Asian Bosses are a Nightmare

An independent research conducted by JobsiteAhead.co.uk aims to bring public attention on Asian bosses in UK. The problem is even bigger if the employee is also of an Asian origin.
Asian bosses tend to have a double standard for their white staff in comparison to Asian and Black staff. This research is based on personal experiences of the author as well as other people who have been in similar situations. Asian bosses tend to favor the white staff and mistreat their Asian and Black counterparts because of their skin colour.
This research blames Asian bosses on having an inferiority complex. They will not ever dare to say any thing to white staff. For example, if a white staff walks into the office late or even leaves early it would not be a problem but if an Asian or Black staff does the same then action is taken immediately. This may even include shouting in front of the entire office as though one were at school. Asian bosses also expect Asian and Black staff to work twice harder and spend longer hours in order to prove themselves but a promotion for the white staff is fast tracked so long as the white staffs are willing to have lunch with them especially females.
This situation is even worse in the medical profession where Asian doctor and Asian nursing staff give more importance and priority to white patients compare to Asian and Black patients. When a white patient arrives in the surgery then the doctor will personally attend and greet them. He will spend reasonable time to do all the checks in a prescribed manner showing off his customer service skills. On the other hand, when Black and Asian patients walk into a GP's surgery then they are treated like second class citizens by Asian doctors or nurses.
Another example of double standards is in an interview situation. If the interviewer is Asian, chances of securing employment is very slim for an Asian employee in comparison to a white employer. Asian bosses also fear from their white bosses in selecting an Asian employee. They will be more worried as to what their white boss will think of them.
Finally, the classic example would have to be Asians working in customer service in United Kingdom. Asians show off their customer service skills when serving a white customer. They will behave politely with a huge smile on their face; they will also use their sense of humor when dealing with the white customers treating white customers with the uppermost superiority. With Asians and Black customers their attitude is altogether different. There will be a change in their tone, their smiley face will become serious and their attitude completely arrogant. They will utilize this moment as showing off their authoritative powers on people of the same race and colour.
In addition, white people do not laugh at non English people's poor or broken English or their accent when it comes down to communicating with them but Asians will be the first to laugh at other people's poor English or their accent. They will not even spare their own parents. Asian bosses will only treat Asian staff nicely if they are related to them or if they have some kind of social pressure on them.
If the government is serious about this issue then they need to rethink the entire jobcentre process again. The jobcentres require restructuring and reengineering of the entire process in order to compete with professional recruitment agencies in the United Kingdom.
During this search 100 Asian jobseekers have been contacted and 80% of them prefer reporting to a white boss or a Black boss compared to an Asian boss. This shows the seriousness about this issue. Asian bosses take Asian staff for granted and try to bully them instead to making good relations with them and utilizing talent when they come across it.
JobsiteAhead requests the government to take the necessary steps to safeguard working class Asians and Blacks who are an integral part of British society.
The JobsiteAhead.co.uk team would urge the media to create an environment where this issue can be addressed seriously as it affects more than 2 million ethnic minorities in the UK.
This research is based on findings from primary materials such as contact by emails, feedback from 100s of jobseekers and other information published in different newspapers.
Mr. UB would like to take an opportunity to thank the JobsiteAhead team and the British media who have given their valuable time and support to conduct this research.
If you have any query and issue regarding the method and any other question please feel free to contact me at support@jobsiteahead.co.uk
Special Thanks to Mr. UB who has provided us the content for this research, If you any article that you wish to publish in our website then please feel free to contact me at support@jobsiteahead.co.uk and if we decide to publish your article then we will give you a reward.

Choosing The Right Career

A job can be anything, but choosing a career requires a real commitment. Why? Because a career is more than just a job; it's a path that, if chosen correctly, will lead you to new ventures and financial security during your lifetime.
When choosing a career, the first thing to consider is what you most enjoy. Work isn't supposed to be fun, right? Wrong. If you do not enjoy your work, you will not likely find as much success as if you were to choose a career that was both rewarding and enjoyable. If you enjoy participating in a debate or have a knack for arguing your side of a situation, perhaps a career in law or public speaking would be ideal. If you are better at writing words than speaking them, you may want to consider a career in writing. If you love animals, a career as a veterinarian or animal trainer may be a good option for you. The bottom line is that, before you decide on a career, make sure that it is something that you are involved in for the love of the work and not strictly for the money.
The next step to choosing a career is to determine what goals you will need to achieve in order to find success in your career choice. Will you need to attend college? If so, how many years will it take to earn a degree in your chosen field? These are all important considerations when choosing a career. If you need to find a job to help pay for college, you may find that enrolling as a part-time student and taking classes on a per credit hour basis will make the process more affordable. It may take longer to receive your degree, but you will avoid having a large student loan to repay after graduation.
Another important consideration in your career choice is a look at how you envision your future. Do you plan to get married and have children? Do you already have a family? If the answer is yes, then you may want to choose a career that will allow you to spend time with your family while also enjoying the rewards of a stable job. For many, starting their own business and determining their own hours is the best way to balance a successful work and family life.
Whatever career choice you make, it will be one that requires a commitment and determination. When you set out to succeed in a career, you will have to overcome certain obstacles that may include starting at the bottom of your industry and working your way up to the top. It takes awhile, but a view from the top is definitely worth the climb.

How to Search for a New Career Before Giving Up Your Old One

Are you thinking about changing careers but scared to blindly jump into something new? Are you not sure where to start? Most people are unhappy and frustrated with their current job, but don't know how to create a plan to move into a new career.
If you are lost about where to start, and not sure what career would interest you right now, think about your hobbies. What did you love to do when you were a kid? If you love books, maybe you would like to work in a library or bookstore. If you are good at math, consider an accounting position. Thank about how you would spend your time if you didn't have to work to earn a living.
Taking a class to learn a new skill is now easier than ever. Most colleges offer online courses that will allow you to work at a time convenient for you. You will have specific deadlines to meet just as if you were in a classroom, but you are able to work at your own pace and within your own weekly schedule.
Try something new, even if you're not sure if you would like it. Learn photography, update your computer skills, or take a yoga class. Even if you wind up hating it, you won't know if you don't try. If you have an idea about what you would like to do, why not work at it part-time? Suppose you work in the medical field now but think you now want to work with animals. You could get a part-time job working in a veterinarian's office or a kennel. There are plenty of part-time gigs you can do at night or on the weekend. Of course, you're giving up some of your free time, but isn't this a small price to pay to test the waters before making the plunge to full-time? Starting out part-time for an employer is one of the best ways to work into a full-time position later.
Volunteering is always an option. While you are helping others, you are also finding out if something is right for you. How about coaching a sports team at your kid's school? Could you tutor someone who doesn't know how to read?
Maybe you won't wind up changing careers after all, but instead build a part-time business that allows you to be creative and express yourself. If you play the piano, could you give personal lessons? If you are good at crafts, why not sell yours online? If you love dogs, maybe you could be a pet sitter for your friends and neighbors.
The possibilities are endless if you just use your imagination. As long as you are doing something that feeds your soul, you are spending your time on a worthwhile cause- yourself!

Online Graphic Design Degree - Is It Right For You?

The answer to whether an online degree is right for you depends on several questions only you can answer but research has demonstrated online distance education is as effective as traditional education.
Both forms of education require the use of technology and provide ample learning opportunities for students to participate in. Each form requires the student to learn the essential body of knowledge required to graduate with a degree and be prepared to go out into the job market.
Furthermore, studies have shown there are no significant differences in final course grades between distance education and traditional education. It was found many online education methods fit perfectly with students's preferred learning style including the ability to work on course material in their own timeframe.
Advantages of an Online Graphic Design Education
The main advantage of pursuing an online education is accessibility. As an adult, you often don't have the time or ability to go a traditional school to earn a higher degree. It may be family; it may be a full time job. Either way, an online distant education program provides the flexibility needed to further your education.
You may have a job that requires travel preventing you from attending all your classes. With online education as long as you have access to the Internet, you can "make it to class". And your classes are available 24/7.
Study Pace - for those of us who don't learn at the same pace as others, an online degree program allows you to learn at a pace that fits your style. It may take you a little longer to complete a course but achieve a better outcome not feeling rushed.
On the other hand, you may be a fast learner and want to push through the programs more quickly than someone else. In a traditional setting you may be held back by the rest of the class or the teachers pace.
Self Motivation - many employers will look at your online degree and appreciate your initiative and self motivation. Completing a program working at your own pace can be daunting so an employer might consider your ambition an asset to the company.
Flexibility - Web based degree programs allow you to learn when you have the time to learn not when you are told to learn. Whether you're a stay-at-home parent or have a full time job, online campuses give you the flexibility to go back to school for that degree that can help you raise the bar to your success.Self Discipline - to be successful in life and career, you have to have self-discipline. To be successful in distant education programs, you have to have self-discipline. By learning how not to procrastinate and being accountable for getting your work done properly and on time, you gain a skill that is very valuable in the marketplace.
It's not always easy to get work done if someone isn't there reminding you all the time. Once you learn the importance of getting tasks done on time and how to achieve your goals, you'll have learned one of the most important concepts in your educational process.
What Should You Expect From An Online Education
Participation - you will be expected to participate via email, teleclasses, or discussion boards with your professors and classmates. This tends to work in favor of students who are extremely shy and stay out of conversations in traditional settings.
Work - just because you are not attending a physical classroom setting doesn't mean you don't have to work. As an online student you will be expected to do the same amount of work, if not more, than a traditional classroom situation.
You will be involved in group projects, writing papers, posting responses to the class message board while taking practice quizzes and discussing topics with fellow students.
Questions - expect to ask and to be asked questions by your professors and fellow students. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask. There are other online students with more experience available to answer your questions or help with a difficult assignment.
Requirements for Online Graphic Design Degree Programs
Because you will be taking your graphic design classes online via your computer, there naturally will be some hardware and software requirements. First of all, you need a computer with hardware and software that is compatible with the schools programs. It may be required you only work on an Apple computer and use Adobe software. Another school may have different requirements. It is important you find out these requirements before you sign up.
You will also be required to have an Internet connection and the faster the better. Since you will be spending a lot of time on line, a high-speed connection will make your life a lot easier than a slow dial up account.
Peripheral Equipment - most schools are going to require you have access to a CD burner or DVD burner, printer, scanner, digital camera and digital drawing tablet. Be sure you budget these items into your costs before making a commitment to a school.
Conclusion
If you are interested in going back to school for a degree in graphic design but don't have the flexibility to go to a traditional school setting, an online education is a great alternative.
As studies have shown, you will get a comparable education at your pace, in your environment. The next step is to find distant learning programs in graphic design that fit your needs.

When Your Career Becomes Very Stressful

What do you do when the career you have chosen stresses you out? When this happens, it is easy to get depressed since your career is very important. As a result, here are some suggestions on how to deal with your career anxieties.
Determine why your career makes you stressed out. Maybe its some aspect of your career that makes you anxious or maybe you need a new job. Do some soul searching and determine the main causes of your career anxieties. Once you know why you are stressed, then develop a plan of action.
Maybe it is not your career that is stressful, but instead your job that is the problem. If it is your job that makes you anxious then try to find ways to improve the situation. If this does not work then change jobs.
Sometimes it may be the career itself that is the problem. Do not be afraid to change careers if you have to. People nowadays change careers for various reasons. Many adults go back to school to get the necessary training for their new career. The important thing is to determine which career best suits you.
Remember you have options. There are all kinds of jobs and careers out there so do not feel that your back is in the corner. If you do not know what to do, then take a career skills assessment test which will determine what kind of job or career best suits your particular interests and skill sets.
There are many career coaches that can give you additional advice. Your local college has career counselors that can give you much assistance and provide you with information on a variety of careers. By talking to a professional, a person will be helping themselves in the long run because they will become better able to deal with their career or job problems. It never hurts to ask for help.
A technique that is very helpful is to have a small notebook of positive statements that makes you feel good. Whenever you come across an affirmation that makes you feel good, write it down in a small notebook that you can carry around with you in your pocket. Whenever you feel depressed, open up your small notebook and read those statements.
It is important to find a job or career that makes you feel good about yourself. Do not just take a job because the money is good or because it will impress your friends. You are the one who has to go to work everyday, so find something that you like to do and also will pay the bills. It will take some work, but eventually you will find something.

Does UK need more IT graduates?

Back in the days when mainframes ruled, there was a close ratio between IT workers and computers. Now, PCs worldwide number close to 1 billion, but the number of IT workers joining the field is dwindling fast.
There has never been a better time to be a graduate entering the IT profession. On-line services and web presence are becoming imperative to companies. Many large companies are experiencing skill shortages as the IT industry continues to grow. One reason given might be the lack of women being attracted into the industry. Female graduates are more likely to enter non- IT-related professions.
Demand is high for IT graduates and salaries are averaging almost £22,000 for those with little or no work experience. IT graduates seeking a career in software/web development can expect a higher salary of over £22,000 and those looking for a career in technical support can expect £20,000.
Computing graduates acquire not only specific knowledge in their subjects, but also general training in many of the skills demanded by work environments across most industrial sectors. These include the ability to think logically, analyse information, handle difficult problems, communicate effectively and work on projects. As employers place high value on this combination of knowledge and skills, this puts computing students in a strong position in the graduate recruitment market.
But the increase in unemployment amongst computing graduates may be due to the fact that many IT jobs are open to graduates from any degree background. Job hunting for computing graduates is now much more competitive: personal qualities, skills, relevant work experience are all as equally valuable as the title and class of the degree. In addition, although there is a general shortage in IT skills, this is more pronounced in certain areas.
According to a new survey by Computer Weekly and recruitment consultancy PSD, 70% of IT professionals do not believe IT graduates make the best recruits. A project manager at engineering company BAE Systems said: "IT graduates are not always the best option. It depends purely on the level of experience and specialism that you require. Individual factors and circumstances should also be accounted for."
Some IT firms are keen to train graduates on the job without first insisting they obtain postgraduate qualifications.
On the other hand, there is as expected strong demand for skilled IT Graduates at this time of year and especially those with some commercial experience. Matthew Iveson, managing director at CV Screen said: 'We are increasingly finding that employers will specify a preference for candidates who have experienced a year out in industry during their degree course. 'Our advice to those candidates who may be beginning or in the middle of their degree is to try and gain some relevant work experience, either through a placement year or indeed during their university vacations,' he added.
Graduates with IT skills and a second language are also in demand as are those with programming skills.
UK IT graduates complain that their university courses do not prepare them for work in the real world

Classified Ads - Pros and Cons

The job search has one more face: now you can place your 'position wanted' ad on Internet message boards or in classifieds. Of course, placing ads in the classifieds is nothing new. Again, it is not without its share of pros and cons. But, now the hot point of discussion is the advent of help wanted ads on the Internet and their pros and cons.
When someone got through to an interview a couple of years ago, it was not the usual thing, for it was because he had advertised on the positions wanted classified.
Pros Of Wanted Ads
There are many upsides to advertising when you are in need of a job; you can do this in addition to posting your online resume. You can use this combination cleverly by linking them to each other. However, the clear advantages of posting "position wanted" ads are here:
1. Since these 'job wanted' ads are placed by you, you can be sure that you can use the space to your advantage. Try to post the message exactly as you want it. It gives you flexibility and freedom to plan your ad yourself. Be prepared to spend a few dollars if you want to do this. Some placement advertising sites ask for a monthly fee, which ranges from $9.95 to $29.50.
2. They keep your identity almost anonymous by automated transmission of messages to your mailbox. Websites protect their candidates' identity and privacy very strictly so replies and all correspondences thereafter will be channeled through them. But when they allow personal identity, use a free email account created for this purpose.
3. Updating your ad can't get easier than this. You can go on refining your ad very easily and whenever you want. Be specific in stating who you are and what you want; eliminate any possible ambiguities in the ad language. Furthermore, you can also specify the salary you expect.
Cons Of Position Wanted Ads
This is the other side of the coin which can't be completely eliminated. Here are a few cons of advertising yourself:
1. There are not too many websites to advertise position wanted ads; therefore, the low popularity attracts very few recruiters and hiring managers. Secondly, they draw far less web traffic than resume databases and job placement sites, meaning that headhunters and job seekers prefer resume databases to placing ads.
2. Technically speaking, both resumes and ad sites are equally searchable depending on the optimization work that they have had done. As all are keyword searchable, the keywords play a key role in making your ad searchable.
3. Some recruiters appear to disregard advertisers as desperate people wanting a job but that still couldn't pick up the phone and talk to recruiters.
Other cons may include misusing of your email ID by spammers and junk mailers. However, when all is said and done, and when all that matters is bagging a good job, it is not a bad idea to advertise yourself.

Career As A Stock Broker

A stock broker is a commissioned agent who arranges for selling or buying stocks or other financial instruments for his or her clients. The stockbroker sometimes is not needed these days when buying and selling can be done over the internet. Still, the earning potential of stockbrokers has never shown signs of decreasing.
I Am Not A College Graduate; Can I Become A Stockbroker?
Anyone who is interested can become a stockbroker, provided he has or she has the requisite grasp of the subjects required and a good understanding of the financial markets. Anyone from high school graduate to a Harvard scholar can become a stockbroker. However, these days it is desirable that aspiring candidates have a college degree due to the complex nature of the job and the larger grasp of the economy that is needed for making technical and commercial financial analyses.
Do I Need A License And What Are The Requirements For Obtaining One?
Yes; but before you get your license, there are exams that you need to pass in order to qualify to represent clients. Although licensing requirements vary from state to state, the overall requirement is roughly the same.
National Association of Securities Dealers, or NASD, conducts this licensing examination which is called the General Securities Registered Representative Examination, or Series 7 exam. After this examination, one is required to put in an internship of at least 4 months with a registered brokerage firm.
Most states also require a secondary examination. This is the Uniform Securities Agents State Law Examination, which is devised to test candidates' knowledge in:
1. General knowledge in securities and stocks business 2. Customer protection laws, procedures and liabilities 3. Record keeping and administrative procedures
You will need to check whether your state requires you to execute a personal bond. Correspondence courses are also available, which is the most preferred mode of study chosen by candidates.
Isn't Working On Commission A Risky Proposition?
It depends on how you look at it. It can be compared to the classic case of two people looking at a half full glass. However, usually those who think they can make a career in this filed also have an in depth knowledge and strong belief that they can succeed in the profession. One long Bull run can cover the lean periods.
How Is the Market Competition?
For brokers there is usually never a long lean patch, even including the sluggish phases that followed the 9/11 attacks. The younger Baby Boomer generation, with their fast paced investment and lifestyles, keep entering the market in search of high returns. A new broker need not refrain from approaching clients of the older, larger brokerage firms. There is always a chance for winning some of them who are not satisfied by their services.
Stockbrokers also do double duty as investment advisors, real estate agents/brokers etc which complements their work as well as supplement earnings. The idea is to catch the investor to diversify his investment. If you want to know the earning potential: the median earning was $69,200 while the central half earned between $40,750 and $131,290.

How Important Is Career Networking? by Tony Jacowski

At the outset, let's accept that there is no such thing as an ideal candidate, and there is no employer who is ideal for everyone. Still, every time we see someone change his or her career or make an upward move, we say or at least think that he/she is brilliant and was the ideal candidate for the position and that the company is lucky to have hired him or her. But did the candidate really get lucky, or were they just smart?
Is Career Networking So Important?
Don't have an iota of doubt about this in your mind: networking plays an important role in career moves. Despite having reasonably strong work experience and skills, lacking in networking abilities could jettison your chances in finding a good job. Your networking contacts can help you beat the competition and open the door to mostly unadvertised job openings through referrals. That the 'Wall Street Journal' claimed a couple of years ago that '94% of successful job seekers claimed that networking had made all the difference for them' should go on to prove the point.
Let's take a hypothetical case of a person in her middle age attempting a career change. The point of contention is not whether or not that person got a raise or a promotion. That worker was traveling to her job a distance of 12 miles every day for the last twelve years and she was beginning to develop frustrations about the employers and her job. However, she could not afford to just quit. She watched the classifieds of local newspapers and lodged her resumes with dozens of recruiters. She knew there were some companies closer to home, but she had been told that there were no vacancies that matched her job profile.
On a Sunday Mass at the local Church she bumped into her childhood friend. Sometime after a friendly exchange, the conversation tuned to her job situation. It turned out that her friend was working in one of those companies and she knew of one vacancy where she could fit in. What followed next is not of importance but this lady got a job at the company where she wanted to work.
In this day and age, savvy career networking is a must. By growing your network, you will have not only expanded your circle of friends but also work acquaintances who may be able to help you open new doors when you finally decide to change jobs or careers.

Are You Fired? Don't Panic! by Tony Jacowski

Panic could grip you when you first hear that you are fired. Although it is the most natural reaction, panicking, especially when you need to think rationally, could potentially rob you of the opportunity to turn tables in your favor.
No Job Loss Is a Sudden Development
If you look back at the events that led to your firing, you would see that it was not a sudden event. However, this is not to suggest that you had to have done something to save your job as in most cases it is a futile exercise once management decides on who stays who goes.
On the other hand, as things become clear, you should realize that panicking only leads to self-pity and skepticism. These are the few things you need to avoid if you want to look forward and get going quickly.
Don't Panic! We Are Living In the 21st Century
The biggest advantage to living in this day and age is that it you can forget losses more easily than ever. Along with advances in technology come new opportunities, either with other companies or work at home opportunities.
Let's see what you should do during this time. While gathering your courage is the first thing you need to do, things begin to become clearer gradually as you come to terms with the situation at hand:
1. You are not back to square one. You have lots of experience gained through your previous job, of which you can use to find the next.
2. Your job termination could be a blessing in disguise. For those languishing in a job they hated, or which did not pay well, this is an opportunity to turn things around and find a job that you really enjoy doing and are compensated fairly.
3. The next thing you should do is update your resume if you haven't already done so. The sensitive issue here is whether to mention the job loss or not. The truth is that hiding things such as this can eventually surface much quicker than you expect and to your detriment later. Any future employer is more concerned about your employment with them than your past as long as you can justify the reasons for that incident. Securing impeccable references, especially from coworkers at the company that terminated you, is key.
4. Don't wait a minute getting started with your job search. Procrastination at this point could prove deadly. On one hand, it will push you down the sentimental ladder, and on the other, it will require that you answer the question in your future interviews.
Act Fast When Fired From Your Job
There are numerous job openings that exist that you may not have even heard of ten years ago. Most of them fit anyone with an open mind. Send your resume to recruiters and Internet databases quickly and mail it to employers in your city regardless of whether they have a vacancy or not. If you have time, try adding a new skill that is in demand.

Are You Motivated Enough to Do Justice to Your Job? by Tony Jacowski

To carry out any sort of work, the most essential thing required is motivation. A person is essentially required to stay motivated to perform any work. Motivation literally means stimulating the interest of a person to act in a particular way. This can be somewhat likened to cranking an engine.
How Can You Tell If You Are Not Motivated?
It is not difficult to tell. Things begin to look gloomy. Lethargic attitudes creep in. But the tragic part is, before you notice it there is else, perhaps your employer, who has noticed it already.
1. If you are a line employee, you will find more alibis and excuses to take breaks than normal. Although the work will not pile up for you, unlike for those who work in administrative jobs, it will eventually negatively affect the business. 2. You are frustrated about your own performance; your output doesn't reflect a healthy picture, and you are unprepared to take the blame for it. 3. Unwillingness or lack of interest to go to the office. Unfortunately, this is often evident even inside the office.
Why Does You Feel Unmotivated?
Although there are a multitude of reasons, the most common and important ones are:
1. Feeling of inferiority due to lack of training or expertise. Inferiority could also originate due to a subordinate or a colleague skyrocketing past you.
2. Your hard work and exemplary performance is not recognized and you clearly see a good chance being wasted due to rejection of your ideas. The latter reason can further demotivate you if you suspect a conspiracy, even if you can't substantiate it.
3. Soured relationship with boss or with a coworker and no significant increase in salary all contribute to render you unmotivated.
4. A souring relationship with a spouse, broken marriage or worse, death of a family member can devastate anyone easily. It is natural for anyone to become demotivated under these circumstances, despite efforts to contain emotions. Domestic problems like this of different degrees can quickly manifest as dampened spirits at work.
The Professional Risks Of A Demotivated Working Style
Not recuperating and failing to come to terms with life and work have a potential danger of leading to your dismissal. Languishing in such state of mind in professional work environments, with self-pity, where work demands your full attention, negatively affects your professional life.
Try meditation, walking in the wee hours, joining a social club or any unconventional way to come out of that negative feeling as fast as you can. If all else fails, you may have to look for another job.

Preparing and Obtaining Your Job References for Your New Job and Career by Bill Piker

You should know that an important final step in completing your job search and resume preparation steps is to identify real and potential job references.
A job reference is someone who can and will vouch for your capabilities, skills, capabilities and most importantly personal integrity.
Job references are typically people who have been your instructors and coaches at school, your supervisors and co-workers and of course previous employers. Do not forget as well the supervisors or co- workers you worked along with in volunteer as well as paid work.
Several factors come in play here
First of all always ask a person a person personally if you can use them as a reference.
This cannot be overstated in importance.
Nothing is worse for your job prospects than a potential employer phoning a reference on your list to have the reference stammer and wing it on the fly. As well you can qualify that the person you are asking to provide a reference actually thought of you and your skills highly and will provide a good reference for you as well as a good personal impression.
A person asked to be a reference can actually be your best proponent actually looking for jobs for you. How were they to know that you are looking for a new job? They may think that you are a marvelous asset to any organization and may actually search out job positions for you.
Identify people who can and are willing to confirm (from firsthand observation) your good performance on the job, in school, or in other activities.
Employers often want at least three job references, listed on application forms.
Try to vary your reference types and positions as well. For example if possible it may not be best to have all three references from one particular job. In that case at least try to have different levels of authority,
For example - one reference from a direct supervisor, one from human resources and one from training. It is best to have a variety of reference types.
For example if the job position is a entry level position in a new chosen industry for you where you have no track record try for 3 references - one to show that you are a dedicated employee - a former employer, one to show that you were a reliable employee - an older job or perhaps a respected person or outside source and a third from your bank manager to show that you are a person of credibility.
. You must ask this person or persons personally if you could kindly use them as a job reference.
Remember it cannot be overstressed.
Relatives or classmates are not appropriate for references. The more references that you have available the better prepared you are for your current or future job campaigns.
If you are qualified to work in two different fields, such as retail sales and accounting. You will get best results by having one set of references, targeted for each of the two fields, or a total of six references (three in the sales field and the accounting field). Some organizations ask for different types of references. For example, an employer may ask for personal references as well as professional references. Do employers check references or not? That is a good question.
Some job seekers will use fake references. I am sure you have read news stories as well as seen movies where some people have risen to great heights using fraudulent references and qualifications.
While it is true that sometimes you may get away with it you can be assured if caught your chance at getting that job will be finished and indeed the word may spread and you may find it difficult to get any good job at all in your area.
Some employers and job screeners check references and some do not. It is like anything else.
It is also a test of a future employer for you. Are they thorough or slipshod? You be the judge. Preparing and checking your job references thoroughly is a very important final step in completing your job search and resume preparation steps.

Know How To Answer Job Interview Questions by Hans Hasselfors

There is nothing I dislike more, than attending a job interview. They are a necessary evil, no doubt, but I have always dreaded them. It seems to me that all you do is show that you are good or bad at job interviews, and not whether you are good at the job you're a candidate for. Some job interviewers approach the interview very scientifically, reading up on techniques, psychological profiling and so on. For the interviewee, you must know how to answer job interview questions.
A job interview is the art of telling people what you think they want to hear. Having said that, there must be a degree of honesty here. We all exaggerate our experience and skills a bit from time to time, but remember that if you claim to have a four-year track record of flying passenger airplanes, you will need to back it up later on.
To answer job interview questions is to walk a thin tightrope. The questions tend to be designed to find out lots of contrary information. For example, are you a good team player and do you also enjoy working alone? Do you like to lead and are you good at following instructions?
Sometimes, I have been so nervous at job interviews that I don't listen properly which make it difficult to answer job interview questions at all. In fact, the key is to swallow your nerves and listen intently. Otherwise, you'll have to wing it. The questions are not there to trip you up, but to find out about you, and what's more fascinating than talking about yourself!
When I answer job interview questions, I try to be calm and collected. I have had some success with meditation exercises before going into the interview. Some people do the much-recommended technique of imagining the interviewer in his or her underwear. I tried this once and got a fit of the giggles. Unsurprisingly, I did not get the job. Try to think of it as a conversation between equals, rather than a job interview.
The worst situation is when you really don't want the job. In my younger days when getting a job was a case of needing cash quickly, I went for all manner of different positions. When this is the situation, they always seem to want you to answer job interview questions like, why did you choose their particular company? You have to quickly come up with an answer. Out of all the companies manufacturing ball bearings in the world, why did I choose them? Tough one.
To answer job interview questions is an art. In the end, the only person you can be is yourself. Trying to be who they want you to be is hard to sustain, especially if it's a panel of interviewers peering at you. Each job interview gets easier. Well, it's marginally preferable to going to the dentist.

Learn to Answer Job Interview Questions and Get Your Dream Job! by Dave Poon

We have all undergone job interviews at some point in our lives but, even so, not everyone knows how to pass job interviews.
What follows are some common questions and tips on how to answer them the right way: The most common question you will be asked is: Tell me about yourself. As an open-ended interview question, this is your opportunity to play up your positive work habits and your qualifications. It would be best to devote your reply to facts about your work and career.
A skillful interviewer will know how to use this one question alone to bring out more information about you than a series of questions would.
Try to keep your answer to a maximum of one minute long, inclusive of a description of your most recent position and what you are hopeful to do next. After answering this question briefly, choose to stay silent or follow-up with this question: Is there anything else you wanted to know?
Listen well to the reply of the interviewer so that you will know just what he or she would like to hear from you. Do not rush into giving an answer immediately to any question. Interviewers are aware of your anxiety and will want you to think first before answering. However, try not to wait too long between answers or you will seem like you are stalling.
Interviewers select open-ended questions just to see what you can come up with so do not ramble on while trying to determine your real answer. The next most common question interviewers like to ask is: why do you want to leave your present job? Or why did you leave your most recent position? These are dangerous questions that should be treated carefully.
Try not to make derogatory statements about your previous employers or negative comments such as: I needed more money. Generic answers like: I'm making a career decision by applying at this new job, are better. Another common question is: What are your strengths? Use this lead to play up the positive traits you possess in connection with the job you are applying for. The interviewer may then ask you: What are your weaknesses? Try not to dwell on your answer to this question.
Buffer your weak points by pointing out a strength that compensates for it. The interviewer is interested in your problem-solving abilities when he says to you: Tell me how you overcame a major problem in your past or current job.
You will have to explain how you solved the problem and show pride in your skill in doing so. A killer question which you might be asked is: What sets you apart from the other applicants who are applying for this position?
It is best to devote your answer to highlighting your skills, experience, and presentation as you have no inkling of what the other applicants might have to offer.
Learn to match what you can bring to the table to what the organization needs since this is key to clinching the job. Determine the key elements of the position and how you can add value to the group. It is highly likely for interviewers to ask more creative questions than these but these are the basic and most common.
By using these guide questions, you will be more prepared to hurdle that interview and get the job for yourself.

How To Start Your Own Business From Home by james lowe

When you are ready to start a business from home, then you are undoubtedly wondering how to go about it in a way that will keep you sane, while allowing you to make some money. You also want to keep it easy on the finances so that you will not be tempted to run up your credit cards. You do not want to get deep in debt. Yet somehow, someway you need to make a profit in an effort to stay afloat. There are some simple, important and clear steps you can take when you are ready to start a business from home: Please do not quit your day job. This sounds obvious I know but there are first hand heart breaking stories around where this has happened.
This has resulted in bankruptcies and even divorce. That is surely not the steps you want to take to succeed. However, it is tempting to take the great leap right away and jump into your business with both hands and feet.
But remember that until the money comes in, you will still need to pay your bills! Sorry, there is no way around it. So instead of quitting your job completely, go ahead and see if you can cut your hours, a little bit, once you start making enough income to cover some of the bills.
Perhaps work part time at another job to pay for the tools you need to get started. If things keep going well and gelling, with your business, you can go ahead and take a few less hours from your job.
Do not get to close to where you lose any benefits at all. These are your health line and are not worth the risk of losing no matter how good the opportunity looks. No Exceptions. If things do not go as well as you anticipated, or if perhaps you decide against running a full time business at this time, you can increase your hours again to full time status.
Caution here. It is always dangerous to cut your hours, and risk losing benefits until you have a nice steady stream of income coming in.
If your employer is nasty, they might not let you have the hours back. Some people thought they could get hours back but they were not able to. Careful.
Save up as much money as possible. When you start a business from home, there will be a lot of expenses you will need to be able to pay on a regular basis. Sometimes you will need to get permits or licenses. As long as your business is not a critical legal or medical one, the authorities will not usually bother you about this.
Be sure not to make your business a disturbance to your neighborhood and you will probably not need a license or permit anyway in most cases. Maybe you simply need to buy some equipment. It is tempting to go ahead and use your credit cards to get started because it is so easy to do.
Please, I beg you please, do not do this. Do not risk losing your family and financial control of your life. On the same hand, never, I repeat never, take out a second mortgage on your home to do this.
A business built, patiently, step by step will stand on a solid foundation. A business built up real quick will collapse like a house of cards and ruin your life. Do not give in to these temptations, instead, go ahead and save up some money to use it for these reasons.
Get a second, part time job, and save up to buy your equipment with cash and you will be light years ahead. Your business start up will take longer but it will be far more solid with no debt dragging your progress down. Use the time you would spend working on your business to finance your initial equipment with cash. The equipment is tax deductible also.
See your CPA for tax deductions. They will be worth the price.
Create a workspace you will enjoy. Work it out with your family so you all agree on it.
This is very important to do this way. Depending on which kind of home business you will start, you will need to have a suitable work area. Make sure that the work area you have mapped out for yourself meets all your work needs for now. After all, you will be spending quite a bit of time there!
Create a highly detailed marketing plan. Whether you are selling a good or service, you want to make sure to get the word out. Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising. If possible, donate your business skills to your church. You will be helping out your church, doing a very nice act, and creating the best kind of reference, word of mouth advertising, for your work besides.
Everyone will soon know about your good work and intentions. Networking is important. Use all the tools you can find. Use the power of email signatures, business cards, and handing out freebies and coupons! Business cards are especially strong. Business cards are very cheap on the internet and you can get help designing beautiful cards on the website you buy them from. The best prices on super cheap business cards I have found was with Vista Print on the internet. Enjoy your business! You have probably decided to start the business because you want to do something you love and because you want to spend more time with your friends, self and family.
Learn to like yourself. This is very important. Go charge ahead, enjoy your business and resist the urge to overwork yourself, especially in the beginning! Always think quality, not quantity and you will prosper. You do not want to suffer from burnout! Get out of the house at least once everyday. You will lose all your will to work your business if you do not do so. Do something with your spouse, children and pets and let them help you come up with creative ideas.
Getting away from your business this way, lets your brain relax, recharge and come up with good ideas for you. A wonderful natural tool.
These tips and tricks should help you to start a business from home, keep your sanity, peace and make it an all around enjoyable process!

A Career Change Impossible by Reed Langdon

I have been there, worked for countless hi profile companies. Worked in factories in many countries, and traveled extensively. Many times short term contract, project related, build a factory, turn some around.
I have watched many hi tech companies come and go, remember the peak of jobs around Silicon Valley California, where at some points there were so many startup companies I had a choice of 10 jobs at once. I am going to discuss some steps for career training for your future, my experiences, and what worked best for me, and hopefully ideas for your future Career Education.
Way back in the beginning, I recall working with many companies in the mid west, and east coast, where the model of a 20 to 30 year job meant security. California was a wild and unstable place for job security, typical cycles were from 2 to 3 years at one job, but you could make very good money, bonus plans, stock options, and some really took off, so who cared if a short term job.
My longest job at a billion dollar corporation was for a 5 year stretch, and although in some crazy way I enjoyed that high stress, blood pressure peaked, and yelling matches between departments. At one point they just decided to cut out a thousand jobs, and, well I was in the group. See, I did my best, they dont always have a heart.
This experience changed my life. I realized if this event had not happened, I would probably had a heart failure, so maybe this was a wake up call. So the time away from the Career Job, really gave me time to think, clear my head, and realize what else can I do. Well I did have ideas.
A career change is very different these days. I was a bit tired of the grind, and believe me, always put out and worked my best. Now I live in a foreign country, lower cost of living. That completely changed my life.
If you are Career oriented, and have a good high paying job, that is great, just take care of the health first, that is most important. These are changing times though, and its important to think about a shift in your future to something you really enjoy doing, that hidden passion.
I shifted Careers, and found I do much better than prior jobs, but working on my own projects with no stress factors.I just woke up one day and said enough! This is how I began the process of a career change. I first took a vacation for over two weeks, and hit the beaches. I then went off and built a house, my very first.
Step 1 : If you are thinking along these lines, your job may come to an end soon, what to do, well start writing down ideas, a long list of any enjoyable thing you can think of. Go over this list, make changes, ad to it, but at the end of one week, target 3 things you feel, and I mean feel, instinctively are worth pursuing.
Yes, once you feel that passion to succeed, and win something for yourself, it drives the machine inside you, and energy you typically gave to factory jobs, but never had your heart into it, at least 100 percent. This is called opportunity, just go do it.
Step 2: I simply rolled out a plan, set a target objective on those 3 things I really enjoy, but never had time for, and eventually found they actually generated income over time. I think its called a paradigm shift in life. I know this sounds simple, but I cannot decide for you, start thinking, and writing will drive and motivate you.
Step 3. Stick to your plan, now you have three things rolling along, some do better than others, but you can make adjustments along the way, as many times ideas just do not make sense, or money, when initially started. Its ok, and this is how a Career Change works, brain storming ideas.
OK, there are some simple steps to start your machine going. See, if you dont have an open mind, you wont even begin thinking about your future.
So here is more to think about, did my three ideas work ? Well ,only 2 of 3 worked out, but then I have added and diversified, and now have 12 projects all working fine, but no stress. I wanted something where I could live anywhere, and here I am in a foreign country, working on my computer, or from any cyber cafe near the beach.
I do many things, writing articles building websites, and publishing, which is very easy for me with all my prior jobs, experiences, travel. I just write for fun, it is actually relaxing, and being original, the search engines, and directories just gobble them up. Did you know, you can become a professional writer , get paid, and live anyplace you want ? There is an idea, and a market with huge demand, go learn how to write. I built my own factory to FDA standards , small, simple, and for my neighbors food products. I really enjoyed this, actually more like a teachers job, sharing my experience in a hole different environment. It is still operating today, and very cost efficient. I teach the locals about the principles of manufacturing from my own experience and how they can apply to simple home businesses.
I think you get some ideas here, I could just keep going, as many doors of opportunities just kept opening. But one of the best things to look at in my opinion is the internet, it is growing, has a life of its own, and a demand for information, and endless opportunities.
Does that get the gears turning, it should. Need help and more motivation, look up , site sell , build it, and that is a starting point for a Career change .
I just gave you the key to making all three ideas work, by using this internet system, as the vehicle to your Career change. Your 3 ideas can interact with the internet, where you can just keep building. It is your future, watch it carefully, and go do something fun .

Are you looking for a job? It is important to keep a level mindset when finding a job. You should set your personal and career goals to make your job searching easy.
Many people have lost their jobs due to incompetence. There are also instances where employees lost their jobs because many companies go through buyouts, downsizing, divestitures and merges.
If you are already employed, make sure that you settle all your financial means. When you get raises on your compensation, it is recommended that you save money. Most young employees tend to spend everything they earn. They change to expensive lifestyles and spending on things that they have not gained yet.

How To Easily Get A Job.The Common Mistakes Made By A Job Seeker. by Janet Mary Namuli

Would you like to learn how you can easily get a job?
Imagine finishing your university studies completely confident and prepared for the job market--- Knowing all that will be required of you as a job seeker.
Now I want you to imagine being completely in control of the outcome of your job search activities and landing the job of your dreams, which will make you happy and comfortable...Sound too good to be true?
After you read this short article, you will feel like your fears of never getting a job are almost completely solved, all you will have to do is to go out and get one.
Right off the butt, I want to tell you that getting a job is as easy as mastering the English alphabet. However, it makes me sad whenever I see a bright individual blundering his chances of getting a job by committing mistakes that can be easily avoided.
MYTH: Most job seekers think they can get the job just because they're good at what they do.
FACT: Wrong! The jobseeker that knows how to present his CV, use the CV to effectively search for that job and how to act during an interview and answer questions well will get the job! So what does this imply, it implies that the process of getting a job boils down to three things namely, Writing a good CV, using the most effective job search methods and mastering the art of interviews. What are the common mistakes you are bound to commit as a job seeker?
1. Writing a poor CV.
These days employers often receive a lot of CVs for advertised and not advertised jobs. Jobs advertised in national papers can often attract hundreds of applicants. So your CV has to be just that little bit special to stand out if you want to obtain interviews.
Your CV is a very important document; with it rest your hopes and dreams for the future -that next step up the career ladder, a better position, more money, new challenges, etc. Your CV therefore has to represent the best you have to offer if you do not want to miss out on that job you saw advertised or heard of which was 'perfect' for you.
However, most job seekers spend a lot of time, effort and some times money, to write a very good CV. When they are through with the writing bit, they then make several copies, which they will attach to each and every Job application they send out. This is a very grave mistake. You should never do this. Each Job you apply for, you should send a customized CV. A CV that is tailored to the requirements of that particular position. In the book titled How To Easily Get Jobs-Interview Questions And Their Right Answers Exposed, The four different types of CVs are shown with guidelines on how to write each particular CV and when to submit which CV. Plus the 15 thing that you should never include in your CV.
If you have customized your CV but doesn't seem to have the impact you wanted and you're not getting many interviews, then you should consider the following mistakes you might be committing: Are you aiming for jobs that you aren't qualified for? Does your CV meet the requirements of an advertisement? Are you older/younger than the stated age range on the advertisement? If you can see no reason why you have been rejected then you should look again carefully at your CV, as this must be the culprit.
2. Using Poor Job Search strategies.
Once you have prepared your CV you are ready to start looking for a job .In Uganda today, there are essentially four ways to find a job. The mistake that most graduate Job seekers do is to use only one method of job hunting. There preferred method is that of submitting application for jobs advertise in newspapers, radio and other print media. However, Over 67% of opportunities in any country are not advertised in the above media. So you should be able to use a method that will help you to uncover the 67% of unadvertised jobs. This method is called Networking and is extensively written about in many books including that written by me. In other words, To easily get a job, you will need to use more than two method of job searching. Faster results will be achieved when you use the four method of job searching.
3. Not Being Specific:
Most job seekers prolong their unemployment period because they lack vision. They do not know what they want. Though a few people have succeeded in getting a job when they just requested for any job, the majority of applications that request for any job will end up in the dustbin, never to be seen again.
You should not just apply for any job, ask for a particular Job. What Job Do I want? You should ask your self the question before you start hunting for the job. If you need help in reviewing your career plans you can get advice from 'Careers Service. These can be found at most departments at the various schools, institutions and Universities. It is important to have thought through the types of job/career you are seeking. This will help you identify potential employers and target your applications by presenting clearly what you have to offer.
4. Minimal interview skills by the candidate:
Many job seekers I have worked on have confided in me that even though they eagerly wait for the interview appointment to come in, they also hate the night proceeding to it. This is because they are not sure of what their performance at the interviews will be. Answering job interviews is an art that is perfected with preparation, practice and repetition. However, job seekers make a mistake of coming for the interview unprepared and not knowing what to expect.
Before you go for an interview, find out everything you can about the company by reading their annual report if they have one. Re-read your application, thinking through your own career and the questions they might ask you. You should try to anticipate the general questions which they will ask and also prepare some questions to ask them.
To do well at the interview, you will need to convince the interviewer you are technically qualified to do the job. You will also need to show that you are sufficiently motivated to get the job done well and that you will fit in with the company's organizational structure and the team in which you will work.
You should dress smartly for the interview and should leave home earlier than you need to on the day of the interview - you may be delayed by traffic or for other reasons. Be courteous to all employees of the company. At the interview itself you must be positive about yourself and your abilities - but do not make a mistake to waffle.
In the book How To easily Get Jobs-Interview Questions And Their Right Answers Exposed, You are shown secret techniques, tactics and strategies that you should use to out perform your completion and ACE any job interview. It has over 150 common questions asked at job interview, with the most excellent answer in response to the questions. These questions are a good resource for any one preparing for any job interview.
Well, those are some of the mistakes that are committed during job seeking and I have shown you how you can avoid them so as to easily get a job.

Finding Real Telecommute Home Jobs by Ross Belgrave

I would like to talk to you about telecommuting jobs from real companies. There's a good chance that if you've done any type of work at home research on the internet you would have come across numerous scams and false promises. You may have probably encountered those sites which charge you an upfront fee to become an employee. Let me say this now. Those sites are scams...ALL of them! You should never have to pay someone to work for them. However, you must be aware of what you are paying for. After all, there are many work at home opportunities which require you to pay for information on how to do a job or an opportunity. Be Prepared For Any Interview Question by Heather Eagar

Things can go really against you despite your thorough preparation for a just a couple of 'types' of interview questions. However, it is possible to ignore or forget the other types of possible interview questions. This brings us to different 'types' of interview questions, along with traditional questions or questions pertaining to your core skills.
Types Of Interview Questions
It is crucial for you to be able to anticipate different types of questions that may come up in an interview. Let's categorize them into three types:
1. 'Out of the box' questions and hardcore questions are the traditionally asked ones that cannot be readily anticipated. They may or may not be related to the job at hand, and are designed to see how well you can 'think on your feet'.
2. Questions That Test Beha
